Can any private festivity match an Indian wedding? The multiple days and all the joy seem endless compared to the low-key celebrations here in the United States. The novel I’m working on is definitely enhanced by the experience!
The video above was a charming footnote that a neighbor held for cousin, Giulia, who’d flown out from Spain.

The next day was the henna party…
Even Stefano, Giulia’s brother in Australia, added a temporary tattoo to his permanent ones…
My hand is on the left, Stefano’s on the right…
Meantime, the co-op building that Deep’s parents co-own was undergoing a daily transformation, from the rooftop where much of the partying took place, to the entry and lobby…
The Haldi Ceremony lends the couple — and the guests — turmeric’s promise of beauty and health…

After lots of eating and dancing between all the aforementioned, it was time for the official wedding ceremony. Horses carried the couple, drummers and dancing guests leading the way…
On yet another day, it was time for the big bash, hundreds of guests gathered to toast the new couple at a large community park. My eyes popped so much over all the lovely bling that I did my best to bring you back as many pictures of the saris and mens outfits as I could…

Great photos. The clothes are awesome, especially the women’s. (And Khashayar’s ties.) It must have been a hell of a party.
It never occurred to me before, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding. Is that unusual?

thank you from me & from Khashayar 🙂 not so strange if birds of a feather hang together? I only been to a handful of weddings & always wish the couple had spent the $ on an awesome honeymoon or a downpayment on a house – except for this one that was so fun!!!!

Great videos, da-AL, I really love that music. And you are right about the finery at those weddings. I really like your dress as well the one with orange colour in it.

Not really, that specific dress has a very intriguing cut (I used to sew clothes), simple but effectful. More glimmer is not always more beautiful. ❤

This post is fantastic! I’m sure the wedding was wonderful; I hope I could attend an Indian wedding. I truly enjoy Bollywood movies and spent a lot of time watching them as a child. They possessed something that made me happy, I suppose the essence of joy. I’ve always imagined their weddings to be like fairy tale ones, lasting weeks and weeks.
Thanks for posting and have a great weekend! 🙂

glad you liked it, Katherine – this one was about 5 days, but I’ve heard some last much longer!
