If you enjoy the ideas and sensibility here and on the Happiness Between Tails Podcast, you’ll love my novels once they’re published — “Flamenco and the Sitting Cat” and its sequel, “Tango and the Sitting Cat.” They’re my love letters to all who worry that they’re too odd or old, too damaged or young or whatever, to find happiness alone or with a partner.

About Me

Hi there! I’m da-AL, and since I learned to hold a pencil, I’ve been a writer. My journalism awards include an Emmy (click here for more about that and to watch the documentary) and various cable TV ones. An earlier video was nominated for an Emmy.
One of my short stories was printed in Verdad. Twice I’ve been granted the honor of attending Literary Women Festival of Authors as an “Emerging Author.” Some of my visual artist was featured in “New Directions in Altered Books,” by Gabe Cyr and California State Long Beach’s literary journal, Rip Rap. (Click here to see some of my art.) As a visual artist, some of my art is featured in “New Directions in Altered Books,” by Gabe Cyr and California State Long Beach’s literary journal, Rip Rap.)
Childhood was nomadic, ranging from cities in Spain, to ones across the United States. Throughout, I cherished corresponding with my grandmothers in Buenos Aires and Barcelona, as well as with friends I made along the way.
My Iranian-American husband and I share a passion for world dance, cuisine, music, travel, animals, and literature. My dear lab-mix doggie, with either a toy in her mouth or her chin on my knee, rescues me from brooding over commas for too long.

My wife has two sisters who have multiple cats, so I have witnessed her reaction to them. I do not remember any adverse reaction to dogs. She loves horses but we never could find a place to put one in our house or yard!

Maybe something smaller? Like a llama? 😂

I usually try to try to hide the fact that I don’t have pets because I think something is wrong with people who don’t have them!

So when are you getting one? 🙈

Although it sounds like your life is quite full with your grandchildren, no?

We recently had my daughter-in-law’s cat Leo stay with us for five days much to the delight of the two grandchildren living with us. My wife has allergies, which helped us justify never having a pet inside the house for over 55 years. Another example of never say never!

That was kind of her to keep her. Is she allergic to dogs too?

I’m bad about using instagram unfortunately and mostly only send my blog posts there. I’ll try and keep an eye out for you though. All is good here. I hope you’re well and you’re still writing 🥰

Mon Amie DA AL , bonjour ou bonsoir
A travers ce message, je t’envoie ma plus belle image,
Celle d’un sourire radieux qui réchauffe le cœur
Et fait briller le soleil même dans les jours les plus sombres
