I live near Bordeaux, 600 km away but we have a very high speed train or planes going to Paris every hour or 2 hours

visited about 4 yrs ago – rented a car in Paris, visited Blois, Dordogne, Bordeaux — loooooved it!

I always have trouble appreciating my own back yard, tho people pay lots of money to visit Los Angeles 🙂
