Where are you from? No, where are you really from?

Growing up moving around a lot, always with a ‘foreign’ accent wherever I resided, taught me early that identity can be a moving target.

Connie LaneMy good friend, artist Connie Lane, often addresses identity in her sculptures and installations. Her sense of where she’s from is complex. A native of Hong Kong, she lives in Long Beach with her Angelino husband.
