Persian New Year (Nowruz): Hyacinths & Hope in Dark Times

It’ll be Persian New Year soon…

Hoping everyone, of course most of all our dear ones, are safe during these frightening times. That bombs don’t continue to shake their homes all night. That burning oil tankers don’t again blacken their air to where their days are as dark as nights. That they can once again freely use their internet and telephones to reach out internationally…

Sorry I’ve taken this long to publish a new post—anything else feels so trivial. But always we must hope and take action as we can, otherwise what else is there? I am trying to find that hope in small things, like watching this traditional Nowruz hyacinth slowly find the light and bloom.

While it is hard to celebrate fully right now, the traditions of Nowruz remain a beautiful reminder of endurance and the promise of spring.   1. I’m sorry about the violence and destruction this war has brought upon this world. I hope your people are safe.
    All that’s happening around is unjust. I pour my words into poetry to let out steam, and I pray. It’s not right… Whatever is happening.

    The flowers are pretty. Hoping and praying the war ends soon. 💛

  2. Wishing you a Happy upcoming Nowruz, da-AL, if that is at all possible, given ongoing events. I feel such sorrow for the Iranian people, and such shame for what the US has been inflicting on the world for the past year! I do believe that the majority of people are good, no matter where they live, and that they do not want these endless cycles of violence. May you and your family be well and stay safe……

  5. I am so heartily sorry for what our atrocious, hateful, insane-in- the-worst way…despicable president is doing. I have never known a more hateful person. I am ashamed to be an American and disgusted by it all!!
