A San Diego’s museum shark threatens to bite my head off, but I’m fiercer!

San Diego is only a couple of hours drive from my Los Angeles County home. That said, how can it be that prior to a few months ago, years had passed since I’d visited?

Originally, my husband and I planned to only overnight in San Diego, en route to Guadalupe, Mexico’s burgeoning wine and culinary arts region. In the best way, San Diego romanced us into saving Mexico for the future.

The first night, we ambled through the Gaslamp District, a happening area pulsing with nightlife, street performers, and restaurants.

The next day we perused Balboa Park’s abundance of science and art museums, many of them free admission, and gardens.

A reader, one of my fave creatures, rocks Italian painter Savoldo’s painting!

16dpmuseumIn Little Italy that night we enjoyed a terrific highfaluting dinner infused with basil, oregano, and garlic at a non-gourmet price. Afterward, we tangoed among friendly dancers on a great floor.

Our last day, before leaving for home, we brunched Mexican style in Old Town. Under shady trees, a series of live bands rocked, salsaed, and serenaded us.

    Just popped by to visit your WordPress site, I live in Australia so it took me a while to get here. San-Diego certainly has some beautiful entertaing and interesting things to see and do. The quilts you have captured here are gorgeous, Savoldo’s paintings simply amazing.
    My favourite was Little Italy, oh my goodness!! I would love to dine and dance the night away here, magical Daal. Thankyou for taking me on this tour with you, I had a great time.

  2. We love San Diego and love to visit the same places. It’s home of course to the world famous Comic Con, where my husband works on set-up every year. We’ve never attended that event, though. The restaurants and ambiance of the city are delightful. Glad you had such a great time.
