Tales of Writing + Books + Compassion + Culture + Wagging Tails = Happiness Between Tails blog & podcast!

Welcome!

Searching for intelligent heartfelt posts about writing, arts, and love by a novelist (tales) that’s fun (happiness) and animal-loving (tails)?

If you enjoy the ideas and sensibility here and on the Happiness Between Tails Podcast, you’ll love my novels once they’re published — “Flamenco and the Sitting Cat” and its sequel, “Tango and the Sitting Cat.” They’re my love letters to all who worry that they’re too odd or old, too damaged or young or whatever, to find happiness alone or with a partner.

About Me: da-AL

da-AL with Emmy
My Emmy statuette.

One of my short stories was printed in Verdad. Twice I’ve been granted the honor of attending Literary Women Festival of Authors as an “Emerging Author.”

Since I learned to hold a pencil, I’ve been a writer. My journalism awards include an Emmy (more about that and the video h-e-r-e) and various cable TV ones.

Some of my visual artist was featured in “New Directions in Altered Books,” by Gabe Cyr and California State Long Beach’s literary journal, Rip Rap. (See some of my art h-e-r-e.)

Some of my childhood was spent in parts of Spain, much of my school years between U.S. coasts. Throughout, I was thrilled to exchange letters with my grandmothers in Argentina and Spain, as well as penpals from the schools I left behind.

My Iranian-American husband and I share a passion for world dance, cuisine, music, travel, animals, and literature. The charming lab-mix dog in the photo keeps me from sitting too long and brooding over commas.
