Keep Calm and Dance + Guest Post by roijoyeux

How are you faring during this challenging time? I mean individually in your slice of the globe? Let’s all help each other — tell us — how do you keep your spirits high?

“I do everything the man does, only backward and in high heels!” — Ginger Rogers

Here in Los Angeles, weeks ago, cleaning supplies were nowhere to be seen. Still, it wasn’t until I grocery shopped a couple of days ago that the sight of ravaged shelves was genuinely arresting. And then yesterday — things reached a tipping point. Long lines of heaped grocery carts, jammed parking lots… a friend canceled a much-planned birthday party, Iranian-American family shelved Persian New Year’s festivities…

Connecting with loved ones in any way I can, keeping fit — and having fun!! — are what keeps me afloat. Fortunately, everyone I know has their toilet paper and we’re all okay. That includes my family in worst-afflicted Iran, Italy, and Spain, along with Australia, Argentina, England, and Canada.

It also helps when my husband reminds me that people elsewhere have endured far worse for much longer. Another thing that lifts my spirits is when I visit blogs like RoiJoyeux’s. His is filled with kisses, interesting biographies of non-straight people, the treats he bakes for his loved ones, and dancing!…

  1. da-AL, these are such strange times. A manager at a local grocery store here said if we could not shop for one week, then everything would re-set itself. The shopping has been incessant. Wishing you well.

  2. Please remember that self-quarantining requires that you stay at home only with the people you live with. Inviting guests for dinner or going out to socialize defeats the purpose of trying to contain the disease. Just because they are family, if you don’t live with each other in the same residence, you risk getting and/or spreading Covid 19, especially since most of us can be infected without any signs of illness. If we are infected, we WILL spread this very contagious disease. Don’t pay attention to me, Daal. There are plenty of medical Internet sites that will give you the same information. Please stay healthy and be safe at home, just you and your hubby. And now you need to restart your 14 days of quarantine.

    1. So true, Sharon — that post was written before rules became as tight as they are now. To make sure I don’t give future readers the wrong idea, I’ve deleted the line you mention. Thanks as always for encouragement & well wishes, dear, as I extend to you & yours ❤

  3. Since we are treating the Corona Virus as a war event, I guess it’s good to seek out heroes who are making this situation better. A pretty girl to a sailor in the video is like a healer to a Corona sufferer these days.

  4. Hey da-AL, thank you for the reblog. I hope all is well with you and yours, please take care of yourself and loved ones.

There are a lot of things that make me happy, but what keeps me afloat, when in a distressful situation like what we experience now, is discovering extraordinary non-straight people on the Internet (or in books) and sharing their life stories and achievements on my blog …

… and I am truly happy when bloggers like you visit and enjoy these stories … because I know some people don’t like non-straight people and say (and think) the most vile things you can possibly imagine about us… so thank you Miss da-AL and thank you to all the nice ladies who visit my blog, and understand we are like other people, we are not monsters

    1. The monsters are the ones who harshly judge others merely for who they love and for who they want to have sex with. It is sad that being a reasonable compassionate person should be regarded as anything less than ordinary.

  5. Here in Central Virginia, everything is starting to bloom, days are getting longer with more light and the temperatures are warmer. It makes you want to go and stay outside which is good for the mind, body, and soul. This too shall pass (but sooner rather than later would be my vote).
