Get out your candy corn and candles and costumes! It’s Halloween and Dia de los Muertos aka Day of the Dead. Do you celebrate them?

Happiness Between Tails blog/podcast speaks to and from the heart. It connects lovers — of pets, authors, reading — and of my still-unreleased novels. “Flamenco + the Sitting Cat” and “Tango + the Sitting Cat,” are my love letters to all who fear they're too odd, too damaged, too old, too whatever to find love and happiness with or without a partner. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where we shared many Mexicano customs. On Dia de Los Muertos we especially enjoyed visiting Olvera Street where we enjoyed both costumes and ambience. We could always look forward to special programming at Casa de las Golondrinas (when we had enough money to eat there, that is). Of course, this was only a Gringa’s eyeview of the customs celebrated in border towns and lower in Mexico, but much enjoyed nonetheless.

I went to my first ever Dutch Halloween party this year! Halloween’s not big in the Netherlands yet, so nobody had a really good costume (me included – although I did manage to fit into my prom dress from 16 (!!) years ago. I guess that in itself if pretty scary D:). But we had a good time.
You two look like you’re having TONS of fun in that picture! 🙂

It was fun — but don’t worry — here, too, it’s hard to find people who’ll dress up for parties — so that’s what makes friends like that all the more special ❤

Looks like you had lots of fun. Do you watch Australia’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries? In this costume, you remind me of her. (It’s a compliment.)

What a funny thing, Sharon (& thank you!) — I was in Australia when you asked (with iffy wifi only) — but I don’t like to say on social media when I’m away — surely you have ESP!
