Gorgeous fine sandy beaches, magnificent architecture, and like everywhere else in France — fantastic food!
Our vacation had started in beautiful Barcelona. From there we drove through wonderful Huesca (note: my upcoming novel is titled, “Flamenco & the Sitting Cat”), pretty Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, and enchanting Espelette. We were headed further into French Basque Country…
Now we overnighted in Saint-Jean-de-Luz where we strolled the beach, ate ice cream, and enjoyed several great meals, the one we ate at Zoko Moko our most memorable yet.
From our lovely stay in Saint-Jean-de-Luz made all the more memorable thanks to our delightful Airbnb hostess Florence.
We took a day trip to visit the coastal towns of Bayonne and Biarritz.
Everywhere was a feast for mind, body, and spirit of art and tradition, beauty and history, surf and great food. Our vacation had started in beautiful Barcelona. From there we drove through wonderful Huesca, pretty Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, and enchanting Espelette.
Next, we headed back to Spain, where we’d marvel at the food and seaside dogs of San Sebastián, Spain and breathtaking Bilbao…
This is simply creative, incredible post..Such a great presentation for our Sunday Fresh start. This is so enjoyable, beautiful photos!!!

So happy you had so much fun on ‘our’ continent 🙂
But I must say…most pizza’s don’t taste that good in France. However, pastry I think France has the best. (Don’t tell my hubby, who is a son of a baker, hihi)

My dearest da-Al: good morning and thanks for this nice but very short review of the many tourist attractions of the French side of Euskadi. My father’s family comes from this region and we believe it is one of the little jewels of Europe where you can find great scenery and outdoors activities, architectural winders in the cities, superb food and wines and mot important of all, friendly people in the streets that do not dislike Americans. Just take a TGV train from Paris to Bayonne and you will feel that you are entering into another planet! as an inveterate foodie, I would have appreciated if you had mentioned one of the wonders of the world: le jambon de Bayonne. The deliciously cured ham has even a yearly festival where you can taste many varieties of it with great goat and sheep’s cheeses plus the obligatory red wines of of course. Are you vegetarian dear?
Gora Euskadi. Muxu,

At first I could not see the photos, but now I can. Well done! I’m on Good reads but haven’t used it. Want to post on Medium, but not sure how good it has to be. Maybe I need an editor first?

It looks like you had a wonderful time. I haven’t been to any of those places. I would love to see them before I get too old and knackered. The photos in the churches are so beautiful. I saw some lovely Greek Orthodox churches in Cyprus you would have liked.
